Our work is connected to small shops in Lhasa and Nagqu. We work with artisan friends and also select pieces from friends’ shops. Materials and designs vary; see the description and options for the individual piece.
Before dispatch, finished pieces are taken to Jokhang Temple in Lhasa for blessings and prayers for the wearer’s safe journeys, health, and well-being. These are sincere wishes, not guarantees of health, safety, prosperity, or other outcomes. They do not imply an endorsement of our store by the temple.
Manjushri's attribute is a sword wreathed in flame, raised to cut through confusion; artists have been placing it in his right hand for well over a thousand years. This pendant reproduces the weapon at 54.5 × 10.5 mm: a bright blade descending from a carved copper hilt, a turquoise bead set at the guard, and a red crystal caught in the gilt flames at the tip.
It hangs point-down from a gilt crowned bail, the way ritual blades are held. Students, writers, and people in the middle of a hard decision buy Manjushri pieces most often, which tracks with what the sword is for.
Copper body with silver-tone and gilt detail. Chain not included.
